Jolly Rancher ropes in gummies

Jolly Rancher has been synonymous with hard candy for much of its 75-year history. Now, the Hershey-owned brand is broadening its presence in gummies.

The sweet and salty snack manufacturer is launching Jolly Rancher Ropes. The offering comes in two flavors: Green Apple + Watermelon and Blue Raspberry + Cherry.

Jolly Rancher Ropes are available in 6-ounce and 10-ounce bags at retailers nationwide and online.

“If you thought you loved Jolly Rancher before, just wait until you try Jolly Rancher Ropes!” Danielle Ford, senior brand manager of Jolly Rancher, said in a statement. “We know this new innovation will quickly become a fan favorite among younger consumers.”

The new Jolly Rancher Ropes are part of a push by Hershey to increase its gummy offerings in the fast-growing category that is especially popular with younger consumers.

The gummy candy market is forecast to reach $750 million in 2032 from $495 million this year, a compound annual growth rate of 6.4%, according to data from Market Growth Report.

This year alone, Hershey has introduced gummies as part of a partnership with basketball great Shaquille O’Neal. Jolly Rancher also launched Awesome Reds, a sour gummy mix with flavors like cherry, pomegranate, watermelon and fruit punch.

Smucker unravels latest Uncrustables flavor

J.M. Smucker is embracing back-to-school season with a new variety of its Uncrustables sandwiches.

The iconic packaged PB&J has launched its first new flavor in a decade, Peanut Butter & Raspberry Spread Sandwiches.

Chris Achenbach, Smucker’s marketing director, said in a statement that the offering furthers the brand’s goal of providing easy on-the-go meals that appeal to families.

“New flavors that excite kids, convenient options for adults on the go — it’s all about delivering deliciousness, no matter how busy life gets,” Achenbach said.

Uncrustables, first launched in 1995, are a staple of school lunches across the country. They are known as a portable meal option for kids that can be found in the freezer aisle. The raspberry flavor joins other varieties of the sandwich: grape, strawberry, honey and chocolate-flavored hazelnut. The Uncrustables brand has been a standout for Smucker, with the Ohio company envisioning it eventually becoming a $1 billion brand.

Uncrustables has expanded beyond its namesake peanut butter and jelly. In 2022, the brand unveiled frozen bites and cheese bites, aimed at school lunches.
